The project

Diorama is always on the move. Its communication must be recognisable at first sight, even to someone meeting it for the first time in a square that is not their own.

The system

For this reason the system is built on a single image, which adapts to every date and every town, and changes its skin the following year without ceasing to be recognisable. From the season poster to each individual evening.

UltraTrace

The 2025 stops also gave rise to UltraTrace, a series of artist interviews.

The visual arts

Alongside the concerts, every Diorama season brings works of art into the places it visits: churches, squares, lookouts, museums, the shore of a lake. Since 2023 the artistic direction of the visual arts has been in the hands of Gioia Di Girolamo.

2023 · Site-specific installations

In the first season the works enter the festival's spaces and remain for the length of each stop: a nave, a museum façade, a village lookout. The same year also sees the birth of a work meant to stay.

Borea Svelata

Borea Svelata is a sculpture by Gioia Di Girolamo, donated to the Sirente Velino Regional Nature Park by Diorama OFF, Paolo Cicalini and the artist, with the support of Treddy and Enel Green Power and the patronage of the Municipality of Collarmele.

Its subject is the wind, invisible in the park yet shaping everything. To give it form, the sculpture takes the humblest thing the wind leaves its mark on, a blade of grass, and raises it into a two-metre trunk: the moment when the imposing becomes light and the humble becomes grand.

2024 · LUMEN

La pazienza dell'acqua, la noia della pietra

Performative itineraries across Abruzzo

The first year in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of L'Aquila. A performative and installation work that accompanies the Diorama stops and reshapes itself each time around the place that hosts it: performances, sound pieces, installations and video projections. At its centre is the figure of the siren, an ambivalent and shape-shifting creature, the emblem of a journey between land and water.

Cugine delle lucertole, parenti dell'argilla

Travelling artistic actions through the Abruzzo summer

The second year with the Academy, launched on 21 April 2026 at Ultrastudios. Performances, installations, sound pieces and video follow a travelling narrative around the goat fairy, a figure of the Apennine imagination bound to the rhythm of transhumance and to walking together. This edition also introduces a travelling residency: Stefano Ventilii follows the festival's stops and recounts them through his own eyes.
